Major Open Government Data Portals in India

Data is immensely useful for any organisation or any institution for integral development. Now the concept of Open Data is in vogue and in the ambience of the information society. Open data is freely available, usable, and publishable. It is inherent to the Open Source Movement plots such as Open Access, Open Science, and Open Metrics etc. Open data is nothing but an organization of  Open Government Data (OGD) which is a remarkably useful resource for democratic moderation, self-services, efficient government services, and other important aspects.

Open data is now actively making implications in many areas such as governments, organizations, corporate sectors, and research centres. These sectors are engaging, publishing, and promoting the open data for democratic evolvement. As a matter of fact, they can utilize the datasets for economic attainment. The Open Data Foundation(ODF) exaggerates the open data ubiquitously.

In India, the National Data Sharing and Accessibility Policy was formulated by the Union Government (Ministry of Science and Technology) and Open Data Policy was implemented by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. Some major portals are:
